Irene Midrand Pony Club is based in Randjesfontein Midrand. Our Club dates back to the year 1964 when it was then known as the Swartkops branch, which later changed its name to the Irene Branch, and is now known as the Irene Midrand Branch. We have a steady membership of about 22 members and we hold rallies twice a month. Our Friday evening rally consists of theory work and then our Sunday rally is based on what the members have done at the Friday evening rally.

Our Sunday rallies start at 9am with full inspection of horse, rider and tack. Once the inspection is complete, the members are put into groups according to ability and sent off to the instructor for the morning. We hold annual events such as the Easter egg outride and hunt, Halloween trick or treating around the neighbourhood, the Inter Brach/ Inter Regional competition, Games, the Christmas fancy dress and outride and the Children’s Hunt held at Inanda Country Base. We try to expose our members to many different aspects of riding, not just the shows and competition side. We bring in many different outside instructors through the year to broaden the member’s knowledge of schooling and riding and to teach them how to have FUN!

Pony Club is a great way to learn about your horse and how to look after it in a fun environment. Everyone involved in horses should at least at one time in their career have the opportunity of the Pony Club
